About Our Clinics

What is an ocular prosthesis? What is its use?

An ocular prosthesis, commonly known as a prosthetic eye, is an artificial eye designed to restore the natural appearance of someone who has lost an eye due to injury, illness, or birth conditions. While it doesn’t restore vision, it plays a vital role in improving confidence, emotional well-being, and facial symmetry.

At our nonprofit, we believe that everyone deserves to feel whole—regardless of their circumstances. That’s why we work to provide high-quality prosthetic eyes to those in need, at no cost.

Feeling confident with one eye is difficult. Here are some facts that highlight the urgency to help our cause:

Cost Barriers

The average cost of a prosthetic eye ranges from $2,500 to $8,000, making it inaccessible for many in low-income regions.

The Untold Story

Millions live with untreated or poorly treated eye loss, yet the emotional, social, and psychological impacts of losing the gift of sight often go unnoticed.

Limited Access

In Indonesia, there is fewer than 1 ocularist per 1 million people.

In  Eastern Africa, there is only one ocularist clinic.

Our Mission

Project SeeShell's mission is to empower individuals who have lost function of their eye(s) by funding clinics around the world to create and install prosthetics, while creating a supportive community that raises awareness and promotes understanding of various ocular diseases.
